Hello,
Hope you will be fine.
I want to set up public Wi-Fi in a Hotel. The Hotel has four Blocks, each with 20 Rooms.
Is the Mikrotik WiFi solution best for covering every corner of each room?
or
Shall I go with other vendors like Ubnt UniFi etc?
I like Mikrotik due to its lot of features.
Has the hotel been built = Yes
Is it prewired with ethernet or fibre = No
Is there an IT room = No
We will do everything by ourself. We will lay an ethernet cable and Install APs.
this "https://mikrotik.com/product/cap_lte12_ax"AP is very expensive and the cellular network is not working in this area. cellular network not required
the infrastructure of the Hotel is like that: there is a street. On both sides of the street, there are 10 rooms on both side of the street
This is advice from somone with no experience so take it for what its worth!!
I would put an AP in every room and only use 5ghz networks as this effectively reduces interference ( 2ghz reaches too far and there are limited channels)
I would map out each room and floor so that the channel separation is optimized. ( lateral and vertical )
You describe two hotels. A street in the middle separating two buildings is two hotels, or two motels…
If only 10 rooms then perhaps another option is 2 APs in the hallway ceiling using 2ghz outside room 3 and room 7 using channels 1 and 6
Opposite side of street another 2 APs in the hallway ceiling using channels 11 and 1
there are 4 blocks in a hotel
Each block has 20 Rooms.
10 Room on the left side of the street and 10 rooms on is Right side of the street (street mean pathway for people)
Of course you need to use in the software the other manufacturer device that more closely resembles the Mikrotik devices you intend to use in terms of power, frequncy(ies) and shape of diffusion. (most ceiling AP’s are anyway pretty much omnidirectional).
