mini-itx motherboard to replace slow routerboards

I am looking at a mini-itx motherboard that has 2 mini pci slots for 2 wireless cards and a cf socet. dose anyone have any ideas if this will work with router os and 2 wireless cards.

The model i am looking at has enbeded cpu of Intel® Core™ Solo processor Ultra Low Voltage 1.33 GHZ and power consumption of 5.5w.

Any Ideas?

the model i am looking at alsow has a dc to dc power converter built in.

Check out the new models for routerboard the new ones are using Power PC cpu’s

the rb333 is still a 333 mhz processor. i am using this for a OSPF Full duplex setup. it is working but the cpu load is at 100% and i am getting around 20 mb connectin.

Your using the RB333 and only getting 20mbit? Something must be wrong then.. If you’re not doing NAT or using any firewall rules on the RB make sure that connection tracking is turned off. Connection tracking wastes a lot of cpu power if you’re not using it.

To answer your original question, Yes that motherboard looks like it should work just fine..

i am using routerboard 532. what do i need to look for to make shure the motherboard is compatible with router os?

thanks,
Mike

RB333 should be better than RB532, even the CPU clock is the same.
RB333 have different CPU architecture and also have QUICC co-processor. So, it’s not only a 333MHz board. It’s faster.

RB333 has been tested to 296Mbit or 70000pps throughput, if you are getting 20Mbits, please don’t blame the board and run to get new ones, just ask …

i do a bandwith test with a computer on each side of the wireless link. i am using 2 rb532. i also am trying to use ospf to do a full duplex link. i get 10 mbps. and the cpu load is at 100% so i was thinking that i need a board with a bigger cpu to handle the load. any advice??

Im not saying the r532 is bad i have been using them for a while and have alot of them i am just trying to get my backhaul conections faster and cant seam to do it with the RB532’s

Thanks

hmmm, what throughput do you think i will get for 25km link:

compA - RB333/R52 ######## RB333/R52 - CompB
from compA to comp B on a Tcp application???

That sounds like the same link i have but i am using rb532 and i am getting 10 mb full duplex but my cpu load is at 100% during a bandwith test so i think you should get better with the 333 they are a faster cpu the routerboards that i have are the older 532 and running at 264 mhz.

I am waiting for the RB600 to be released!! still havent been able to get a release date!

Around 35mbit tcp one way..

I havent used the rb333. my setup has 2 wireless cards on each end so a total of 4. Two wireless links one that handles tx traffic and the other handles Rx traffic.
