Minimum amount of packages that are needed for Access point mode

Hello. I’m using router as a switch + access point. In order to minimize cpu and memory load, I would like to disable packages that are not needed. Right now I think that this is what I can leave enabled:

  • advanced tools (because I like to have them)
  • security
  • system
  • wireless
    while disabling:
  • dhcp (shouldn’t be needed for access point, right? assuming I have set static IP for it)
  • hotspot
  • ipv6
  • mpls
  • ppp
  • routing

Am I doing it right?

You’re thinking right. Except that security requires dhcp … I know, it’s WTF but it’s because of IPsec (part of security) that needs DHCP …

For my capacs I use five
system (basic for all OS functionality)
wireless (obvious)
security (thinking for wifi security profiles)
routing (not sure why but because maybe I have vlans and smart switch capabilities)
advanced (not sure why maybe firewall rules if I want to use them)

dont use ipv6 yet
dont assign networks (dhcp not required)
etc…
