mips-le mips-be ????

i saw in the newsletter, some new hw platforms would be launched…
and the packages would migrate in mips-le and mips-be packages…

would this mean, we would also be able to run Routeros on other mips based devices like this

http://www.portwell.com.tw/products/ca_25.html

i hope so…

pls tell normis

no, these packages will be meant only for routerboard devices, as we can’t optimize for every other device out there.

Can you then make some RB with ether only with more memory like 512 , and more cpu power ,
like dul core, opteron 1.5Ghz , or something like that.

yep same here…

i’m missing devices with 6 to 10 real Gig interfaces
with a min Dual core CPU
and 2 Gb mem
to replace some BGp routers.

i’ve now had to swith to Viatta as bgp on MT is still not running fine, execept in V3 with rocks, but is still beta.
but i’m really missing to raw packet processing… power…
that’s why we are looking n to 6wind as they do fast-path on Mips cpu’s… and 8 till 16 cores to do Processing with, just rocks…

hoping to see some new real highpower devices soon, as to the question that MT will never support other mips devices, i understand this, but the real question is, would it work,… …
Do you compile for mips-le of mips-be or is there specific optimisation done to the linux kernel…
if it would be standard mips-le or mips-be it should work, as i have linux running fine on these devices…

all of those are already announced, didn’t you see the MUM videos on tiktube? RB1000 will have more power than a Pentium4 and have a SODIMM slot, also coming powerful devices like RB600 or RB400

On RB1000 i cant run bgp .
Also i dont need wireless on my core router.
Or if i want to put L2 only on ethernet? and need cpu power coz 200 - 300 Mbits?
Why you awoiding question?

RB1000 doesn’t have wireless. Why can’t you run BGP on it? You can. RB1000 has more power than you ask. Of course we do specific optimization, that is why only routerboards can be supported.

If you are looking for a P4 Platform, dual core with 7 GigE interfaces, http://www.mikrotikrouter.com can help out.
1U as well.
