Missing p2p traffic or am i missing something?

I hava 2 routers in use, one serving about 10-30 people. and one serving 3-4 heavy users.

I’ve ONLY seen p2p traffic one time as shown by the router, and i know ppl are using p2p stuff.

I even setup a mangle rule with action passthrough and p2p as the value to look for. through this router i’m running bit torrents at 100-500 ksec and i’ll only see an ocassional packet grabbed by the mangle rule.

does p2p only pick up very specific p2p clients?

I mean i’ve not once seen a p2p packet marked at my router with 10-30 ppl and I KNOW someone has used p2p at some point… I’ll even see people initiating like 50-100 connections..which i assume is somekind of p2p but the mangle never grabs it.


both routers are rb532s with 2.9.22 on them.

obios - your users are using encrypted p2p, so you see only packets to create connection, if you are seeing these rare packets, then you have p2p traffic - encrypted torrent for example
