Model & Serial not showing under System->Routerboard

Hi,

I recently upgraded one of our customer’s RB1100AHx2 routers and in the process of upgrading their boot firmware, I realized that under the System->Routerboard menu, the fields for “Model” and “Serial Number” are blanked.

I tried rebooting, didn’t fix it… pulled the plug on the unit, powered back on, still didn’t fix it.

Unit is running ROS 5.25 and seems to be operating fine besides this.

Is this normal ? It’s not a big issue, but I am just hoping it’s not a foreshadow to a potential issue/defect in this router?

is the routerboard package installed?
have you tried command “/system check-install” ?

Hi Normis,

The routerboard package is installed and here is the result of the command:

/system check-installation
checking ppp package…
checking dhcp package…
checking ipv6 package…
checking mpls package…
checking hotspot package…
checking security package…
checking advanced-tools package…
checking routerboard package…
checking system package…
package wireless is disabled
checking routing package…
done

This seems to happen to several RB1100AHx2 units. I have seen more than one thread about it on here. A netinstall brought them back for me once. Both times I was running 6.0rcX. But it may have been after I was running 6.x and downgraded to 5.2x. I can’t remember the exact order in which I did things anymore. My ticket about the first time was [Ticket#2013030166000514].

I have rebooted it since the current symptoms manifest themselves. The reboot did not bring back the Model and Serial numbers. I’ve left it alone since then.

Mine is currently running MikroTik RouterOS 6.0rc13. I am a bit nervous about attempting to upgrade it in case it decides it is not licensed. It is locked in a client’s building without after hours access. Actually, I’ve been bitten by enough problems on the 1100AHx2 with 5.2x and 6.0rcX that I am nervous about the 1100AHx2, period. I will not place them at critical points in my network. Support says my config was just so complex that I ran into a lot of different bugs in RouterOS. Now the config is simple and it on the edge of the network handling 10Mbps.

This is my AHx2’s current status:
