I have a question about latest routeros v 7.15.2: where are many other modes? like WISP AP, Home Mesh, etc. Right now, only Home AP dual is available. I can’t set my mikrotik as Bridge in Quick Setup page. As to wifi, Setup Repeater option is gone. The plus button is missing down arrow, meaning I can’t add virtual interface, no option at all. That means I can’t set up a repeater. Also configuration to any one wifi interface can’t keep to the next change. As soon as I change anything in Winbox, the configuration is gone, I have to repeat everything over and over.
It seems v 6.49.15 doesn’t have any of these problems. Have you experienced similar issue, how to fix that? I tried to downgrade routeros, didn’t succeed.
Right now, my hap ac3 has to be connected using ethernet cable to upstream router. I have to give it a lan ip. otherwise it won’t allow me to do anything in quick setup because bridge option is gone.
First step, forget Quickset (except for initial config…but then, still forget it).
Do it manually, you will get so much more options (besides the knowledge you gain).
As soon as I change anything in Winbox, the configuration is gone, I have to repeat everything over and over.
I have two hap ac3, one is v6.49.15, the other v7.15.3. With v6, it’s much easier to set up everything. with v7, it can’t remember wifi configurations, I have to go back and reset frequency, band, channel width every time I click away from wifi window. The plus button is missing pull-down arrow, meaning I can’t add virtual interface from that wifi window. v6 has that pull-down arrow. What I just found with v7, is that I first click pppoe option on quick setup window for internet option, then come back and pick automatic option, it becomes bridge, Though no interface change, I know it’s bridge now. I’m thinking downgrade to v6 on that hap ac3.
I’m gonna have to downgrade to v6 using netinstall. it’s so frustrating with v7, don’t understand why Mikrotik made a such stupid upgrade.
So strange, my ip is blacklisted. I didn’t say anything wrong, what the heck.
ha, found a very useful youtube video of using netinstall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbiPxoYpTy0
I highly recommend it. The mikrotik netinstall manual page is quite misleading, after reading through it, I’m totally lost, had no idea of how to use netinstall.
This video is only a few minutes, very clearly going through steps of using netinstall.
Yes, after installing v6.49.17, everything comes back, bridge is there, WISP AP is there.
I’m gonna keep at this version for a long time.
I know many people will say I can manually configure everything the same way as a bridge should be like.
But there’s no manual at all. Don’t know how.
I only need a quick, easy starting point, then change configurations from there.
I’m not a professional networking person. Know something, but not all.
And many people will say wifi repeater is not good.
I know that. If there’s easy cable way, I wouldn’t do repeater.
When I do repeater, it means there’s no other way.
