Good afternoon,
Please move this topic if it belongs in another section.
I am thinking about purchasing a Mikrotik Hex router for the sole purpose of being able to monitor the traffic on my small office network to identify bandwidth hogs. My network only consists of a Cisco 800 series router with 1 VLAN. My plan was to place the Mikrotik device behind the Cisco router and then configure the bridge settings so that I can see the traffic activity on all devices. I did the same thing on a different network with a RB3011UiAS-RM and it did what I wanted it to do very well.
Currently I am using the integrated access point on the Cisco router to provide Wi-Fi, so my question is what would the best way be to route the Wi-Fi traffic through the Mikrotik in order for the traffic to be captured and analysed, just like it would be for the traffic going through the LAN ports? I’m guessing port-mirroring or something similar…
Hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you need any more details.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
