Which of the new CCR2xxx routers is the most stable as a BGP border router?
Reading the forum I am confronted with a veritable deluge of complaints regarding the CCR2xxx routers. Instability, hardware issues, what have you…
I am not asking for much. I just want a stable BGP router that can take a default route and a handful of other routes and pass 10G of traffic without issue.
Are ROS7 and the CCR2xxx routers too immature and should I look elsewhere?

Since they run all the same software and have similar hardware, the most expensive one will be the most stable due to CPU performance and more memory.
keep in mind ccr2116 and 2216 have the same CPU and Memory, so the difference lies on Integrated Switching ASIC
in that way highest forwarding performance discussion best to be focused on L3 Hardware offload, CPU will be focused more towards control plane tasks

I don’t think you can generalize like that.
For example, the CCR2004 has been widely panned for having stability and hardware issues.
I’m not so much interested in raw forwarding performance, but rather BGP stability.
All of the CCR2xxx routers can pass a fair amount of packets, but it matters none if they are unstable.

Most of the time stability is not only dependent on the product, it also depends on a good design and configuration.
You can find many complains, but if you dig enough on the industry you can find many more sucess cases, only that is not found in the forums, most the time only problematic scenarios reach the forums
Fact: Once installed never down, except for RouterOS reboot for upgrade.
CCR2116-12G-4S+ with Factory 7.2, Netinstalled 7.8, upgraded to long-term 7.10 then 7.10.2 with 3 BGP full tables, 2 IPv4, 1 IPv6.
I’ve been running a CCR2216 with three full tables with L3HW disabled (because of issues regarding BFD and L3HW). These seem to be fixed on 7.11beta4. I just installed a second CCR2216. So I am pretty happy with the 2216.
How many PPS and Mbps are you pushing on the first 2216?
I don’t understand why you are trying to make this a subjective issue. Stability and uptime are objective measures.
With Mikrotik, stability is very much dependent on the product. An edge router which is only used for BGP is not a very complicated thing. Whether it is stable or not is not something you magically fix with good design and configuration.
BGP full tables (multiple) will work fine on CCR2ks as long as you correctly configure BGP affinity and also handle the layer 3 offloading/single bridge configuration stuff.
This seems a curious comment, given that a previous poster commented on having issues with BFD and L3HW.
What CCR2xxx are you running, which ROS, how many PPS/Mbps and how long has it been stable?
Full tables/BGP works fine on CCR2ks with proper BGP affinity config.
However, you are correct, BFD<>L3HW is broken, BFD on 7.10.x is also broken. This is due to poor software quality of MikroTik - https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=197095&start=300#p1013158
The point here is BGP itself + full tables is no problem on CCR2k, everything else is a matter of bugs/software quality.

I am a customer of MikroTik, I have the right to complain about bugs/instability issues on MikroTik.
