Because the summer is coming and I have a router on the roof I would like to be able to see the temperature of the CPU and of the hole system throw the motherboard sensors.
I searched in the forum and I saw that there wasn’t any solution.
Does any one know any way to make this happen??
It’s been asked for, several times.
“me too” from quite a few users.
There are Linux drivers to do this, well documented on the web.
So I guess it’s either “difficult” or not on the MT priority list.

so.. why MT can’t use lm_sensors to check temperature of cpu?
Is any chance to fix it in near future? It’s urgent.
There is no standard for these temperature sensors - there could be a lot of them. Could you specify which exact temperature sensors you want us to support?
now i don’t remember. i’ll check it. but in lm_sensors is sensors-detect program. mayby good option will be option for example /system health sensors-detect and /system health print showing all detected values?
it’s little dangerous when i can’t monitor temperature in some locations where is very hot.
We will not use any Sensor-detect programs.
It is getting mighty toasty arround here…

System temperature would be nice.
If MT would like a list of boards etc to support I think we should all either post “known good / commonly used” boards or send them in to support@

There are quite a few lm sensors out there, but most use standard LM78/79 chips I believe. Taking one of the open source packages and making it a RouterOS package would be good enough, if there are problems or it causes crashed then uninstall the package - if it works great. For most installation in a data center heat is never an issue, but I can definately see the need for it for CPEs and outdoor devices.

We don’t need any software, we need to know what hardware we need to support. To add the support we need to check that out if it works or not.

I think that very soon you will gather from your customers the complete list of motherboards ever manufactured in the world 
. Why don’t to use an existing software, lm_sensors? OK, you don’t want to use sensor-detect… Then just provide us with possibility to put our custom settings into your lm_sensors module. This is not a big deal for sysadmin to try some settings and add the working ones into config before putting a router into commercial traffic. And it is not even a big deal to boot the motherboard with any Linux from a live-CD and run this sensor-detect to detect these settings, when it is not possible to find the type of sensors in documentation…
Last two weeks I’m sending every morning my tech guy to check temperatures on two of my critical Routers. They are in very big heat and cpu temp is high. It would be very nice if I could see it from MT directly instead of going there each time.

Most of the major mobo’s manufacturers have a common utility for their products (like ASUS - Probe, MSI - Corecell, etc) which -probably- means that the same software code gives the CPU & Motherboard temp measurements for each brand name. I think it would be a good start to begin supporting these major brand names (of course adding Intel,Gigabyte etc…) and from time to time to add all the other requested by the MT community. At least make a start (!). I believe ANYONE who has a PC with MT in a roof is worrying about the temp or has problems (crashes, low performance) and cannot finger out if it is temperature related. Thank you in advance for taking this feature into consideration.
