MPLS EXP bits

Hey,

We have been testing the MPLS feature set and would like to know the default behaviour of the 3 EXP bits in the labels. If we mangle packets on ingress, setting DSCP values. Will ROS map the TOS to the EXP and will all LSR’s honor the EXP settings?

On a side note, will MPLS-TE tunnels be configurable from Winbox or are they staying on the CLI for now?

Thanks,

Martin Madsen

Hey,

Guys, i know you guys are really limited on resources when it comes to MPLS.

However adding MPLS to a system like this with a cost 1/15 of the typical competition (RB1000 + L6 vs. Cisco ME6500 + Adv. IP Services) really will allow us small ISP’s to compete on completely different level, that was until now reserved for the Level 3’s and ATT’s of the world.
I understand that everyone has their own priorities and everyones business differ and therefore the needs differ, but since MPLS allows for a unified network with L2 / L3 services side by side, Advanced QoS, load balancing and failure recovery (TE), I think the subject should get special attention. I am sure more and more of your customers will understand why MPLS is a huge step forward as knowlegde of its abilities become main stream and the expertise on this forum grows.

Could you guys please take a look at the question that started the tread and atleast give me a yes / no on DSCP - EXP or any other way to assure QoS with MPLS.

Martin Madsen
