We have a two POPs that we are focusing on in our network. They are connected with both a 1G fiber transport and two 236Mbps wireless backhauls. We are using ECMP in OSPF to achieve a sort of bandwidth sharing with them, but would like to enable MPLS across our network. With this being said, we would like to be able to keep some semblance of ECMP/TE on the network to be able to utilize all three links at the same time. Has anyone had luck with this? I’ve read a few posts saying that MPLS-TE should be able to do this, but I have yet been able to reproduce this (or get TE running properly) in a test lab.
MPLS/TE is your ticket. It isn’t a simple task, or the kind of setup you can achieve by trial and error without specific knowledge… look for MUM presentations on the matter, can be very helpful.
The key: for TE to work, you have to create two tunnels per link, one for each traffic direction.
