MT alternatives for 17Km link?

I have a 17Km p2p link using MAnt30 solid dishes and NetMetal5 units. The link has never performed satisfactorily in the 2 years it has been running : using nstreme we see decent throughput but the link disconnects completely and reconnects, every few hours (even though it works perfectly well in between). Using NV2 the link is rock solid but throughput is 1/2 what we achieve with nstreme (and below requirements which are at least 100Mbits 1/2 duplex). 802.11 seems to work but is slower than NV2.

We’ve been running MT gear for 10+ years and I’m very familiar with its configuration, RF engineering in general. It has come to the point where I am looking for suggestions for alternative products to try on this link. Ideally I would like to retain the existing dishes since they are aligned and in place, so I’m looking for radios without integrated antennas, and obviously 1/2 duplex. One end of the link is solar powered so I can’t use gear that has very high power requirements.

Thanks.

Options from my side:

Mimosa C5C need about 10W (48V)
or if you want to go to MAX bandwidth on this Link
UBNT Airfiber 5X HD need about 8W ( 24v)

Airfiber 5 need 8w 24v???
AF5 need 42~58v up to 40w

According to spec AF5XHD runs on 24-50V @ 12W max (6W min, so 8W typ would make sense).

Much less than AF5 and more solar friendly. I have a 24V nominal power power system at the site.

Thanks. AF5XHD looks very interesting. Not sure if I have the days left before the snow arrives to deploy, so probably a project for the spring..

AF5X HD not AF5
He is searching an connector Based Radio…

162/162 98% ccq gives stable 100/10 in NV2 tdma 2ms avg ping 5ms soft 6.43 rc34

AF5X

-15km
-36dBm allowed (Europe)
-30dBi Dishes

  • 90% clear LOS
  • Solar Powered

Resulted in 280 MBit Down / 60 MBit UP (75/25)
We use a not 100% clear 50 MHz Channel

With Uograde to AF5X HD we hope to see more than 400MBit

Oh that one airFiberX

Another question : do you know if the pigtails have the same connector (between NetMetal and AF 5X?). Both are described as “RP-SMA” so I would think the answer is yes.

Yes they fit no problem…
