Hello there,
I have question about hardware (MT hAP lite + MT PWR-LINE + MT PWR-LINE-AP) combination.
Lets say Incoming: MT-hAP-lite (could also use hAP AC lite).
Now I want to extend wireless connectivity without any cables, as far as I understand wireless mesh is very poor option, when it comes to mikrotik (let me know if I’m wrong here). So i found other option: MT powerline adapters. Connect couple MT-Power-Line AP’s.
So the question is, what is optimal solution to build simple network managed by capsman (or w/e, but I want auto wireless roaming, when moving around location).
So average equipment prices:
hAP AC lite: 50$ (good thing with this one, that it have poe-out so I could feed my wireless roof antenna).
hAP lite: 22$ (this one is cheap and have micro usb power connector, but no poe-out).
Power-line: 29$ (this one is cheap, but no wireless HOWEVER you can plug its micro USB to hAP lite).
Power-line-AP: 42$ (this one is fine to plug as wifi hotspot).
So basically I have a question if this scheme going to work: 29$ pwr-line plugged into wall and via micro USB feeding hAP lite, then 42$ Power-line AP’s plugged all over the place. Because I was unable to find information if no wifi (29$ power line) going to sync with 42$ power line AP’s??? Basically this scheme would be petty good and not expensive.
Other option: 50$ hAP AC lite connected with 42$ pwr-line-AP (because you can’t use 29$ power-line with this rb, cuz no micro-usb port) and then 42$ pwr-line-AP’s plugged into walls).
So basically thats 51$ vs 92$ for incoming setup (every extra pwr-line-AP price the same for both scenarios). However I’m unsure if 29$ pwr-line can feed 42$ pwr-line AP’s (not much information on that from mikrotik side lol). And problem with second option is that it feels like a waste to have hAP AC lite + 42$ power line plugged in near each other…
Or maybe there is better option? Maybe you can use First 42$ pwr-line AP as your main router and caps manager? Any other solution (if you have any ideas) to build small cable free home network are greatly welcome.
