MT IOS and Asterisk

was anyone able to install both MT and asterisk on one x86 machine?
how is that possible and where to begin?
pls share ..
thanks..

You could install it in ESXi. RouterOS work well in VMWare. Is there a reason you want them in the same hardware?

you have done it before?
were they running at the same time (i.e. i can access asterisk and MT at the same time, not an option to boot one of them) …
the reason is x86 is too much for MT, need to utilize it more!

You don’t even need VMware or another machine. RouterOS has built-in metarouter that can run asterisk. Watch this demo:

Normis, from what I have read do you have to install something like OpenWRT first, then install Asterisk in it?

of course, Asterisk is not an OS. the video demonstrates that OpenWRT with the Asterisk program are running inside a RouterBOARD, in a RouterOS Metarouter instance. Metarouter is something like a virtual machine where this OpenWRT can run.

Yea we use metarouter quite a bit and have had great success with it, but I have never installed another OS in it. I have never had a need really, but I think I am going to give this a try.

Here is a tutorial how to install Tor with Metarouter and openwrt. Ignore the TOR bits just to see how OpenWRT is being installed

or just read this shorter version:

Thanks
