I have a RB 532, and for some reason i could never get the password right when connecting to it, but when at my main machine when i double click the saved winbox entry, i could connect (have winbox set to save passwords.)
so i exported the winbox address and looked at the file (it does not encrypt the password) (ofcorse taking off the pwd part…the other book marks work fine when i manually enter them.)
why can i NEITHER, login with that password, OR change the password once logged in my clicking the winbox entry?
this is VERY weird and i had a friend confirm what im seeing.
if you know password and login cut (if you are using XP) mikrotik folder from C:\Documents and Settings*your user name*\Application Data
and download and save new winbox
when ad login and passwors and save

When logged in through Winbox, you can set a new password without having to type the old one, going to: Users → [double click] Username → Password.
There, type the new password twice, and that’s all.
I’d better create a new Full user with simple credentials (like, username: demo password: demo) to ensure that if password weirdness gets so far you won’t loss full access during the process.
