MT Wireless Newbie Question

I’ve been running MT for core router for 3 years and have pretty good understanding.

Now I’m trying to use it for wireless bridge. My test setup- I have RB153 w/ R52 Atheros plugged into network switch on one side, and RB153 w/ R52 plugged into my laptop on the other side.

No problem making link, but can’t ping from Laptop → through wireless network → office network.

Need to have an IP on both boxes, and be able to ping from laptop to network.

Have tried the WDS setup. Still can’t ping across. I’m sure I’m missing something simple!!!

Thanks,
Randall

I followed the link from another post to
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks

I now can ping from a laptop through to my wired network.

If there is an easier way to do this, please post!!!

Thanks

what do you mean by ‘easier’ ?
If you want to create transparent network between two segments over wireless, use WDS or EoIP. WDS is more recommended.

I’ve repeated the setup a couple of times for WDS and it is pretty simple.

If I want to setup as AP with several wireless clients, is this also the recomended setup?
