Multi router Wifi config

Problem: We have two (and in future more) mikrotik RB951Ui routers and would like to set them up to provide seamless wifi coverage accross a large area.

The #1 router provides access to the internet and has been setup as a “wisp ap” the #2 is connected to it via an ethernet cable of approx 50m.

Question: how do I config #2 router for most efficient wifi extension that will allow for seamless connection when moving between the two devices.
ideally want to setup a wired mesh of some sort? I dont want to set them up as two independent routers but rather like they should appear as a single network with same SSID and pw etc
Any advice appreciated

Do not ever “mesh” WiFi unless you have to. Always run a cable to each one, all connected back to a central switch/router is best. In your case, I guess you are daisy chaining because the RB951Ui has five ports? That can work too. All comes down to how many clients you want to support.

To your question about how to configure. On every AP, set the route, default gateway, SSID, and password to all be the same. Then on each AP, set 5Ghz to use non-overlapping channels, as shown in the image. Place each AP such that the signal power are slightly overlapping. Again, channels are different, but the coverage is slightly overlapped. As the image shows, you can repeatedly use the same channel, just dial down or increase signal power and AP placement so that there is no collisions.
