I have routerboard which is configured as a transparent bridge with 1 ethernet port and 2 wireless ap connected. I want to run multicast over this system. Is IGMP snooping a part of the multicast package in MikroTikOS v3.15 and will this work in a bridged wireless environment.
what problems you have with multicast over transparent bridge? if it is transparent, then it will work as simple switch, no less, no more.
In a bridge/switch which don’t support IGMP snooping, ip-multicast will act the same way as ethernet broadcast messages. So if you receive å 2Mb multicaststream this stream will go to all ap and will from there be transmitted to all radio clients where it spreads out until it reaches a router.
