Hello, my name is Santiago and I write this email to advise me on which products you need for the following project:
I have a telecom company and distribute Internet and telephony through Wireless, now we want to expand and introduce IPTV services with a multicast (IPTV Combine NetUP 4x) the problem is that the radios that we currently do not support this type of transmission and would like to know if you have the right product for the job.
I await your response in order to make the restructuring of our teams, and do not speak English, it is translated with Google, sorry if not understood properly.
It’s probably not the answer you’re looking for…but, don’t do multicast on wireless. Unless your network is unusually stable and static with nailed high over the air rates for all clients you’re going to have headaches. Multicast traffic on wireless will be sent ~to all users~ at the datarate of your slowest connection. This can snowball into a tarpit where performance drags to a halt.
Not a happy answer I understand. Perhaps someone else has new data on wireless multicast?
well, if multicast packets are sent from AP to client, then they are sent in lowest configured data rate. If you can set it higher, and still your stations will associate with AP, you can configure higher rates to be used.
If multicast stream is sent from client to AP, then there are no problems with data rates.
Also, multicast packets are send over wireless links without ACK and without retransmits.
