I have a setup with RB3011 as my main router and two RB260GSP. On every RB260GSP port 1 is trunk port with several VLAN’s, and other are access ports. Everything works fine except IPTV service that is based on multicast. STB devices that are conected directly to RB3011 are working ok, but I have problems with STB devices connected to switches RB260GSP. Everything works but sometimes I have problems with freezing the image. IPTV is using separate VLAN, and I have enabled IGMP snooping in general settings and on VLAN settings on switches. Before RB260GSP, I had two TP-LINK switches and didn’t have any problem. Does anyone had experinece like me, do you have any suggestions?
Forget Mikrotik about multicast and use Cisco.
I had same problem, tried everything but after switching to cisco losing packet stopped. Mikrotik isn’t good enough with multicast.
Anyone else?
I recently bought those devices, so I hope there is some solution for my problem otherwise it was a waste of money.
Anyone from Mikrotik, will be there any software update if this is a known problem?
My ISP provides IPTV over separate VLAN as well. I tried with IGMP snooping and, as noted by @rime, IGMP snooping on Mikrotik is broken in different ways. So I reverted to simply switch that VLAN and I live with “multicast flooding” … I don’t bother much, most IPTV streams are at around 5Mbps and set-top boxes have at least 100Mbps interfaces (and don’t seem to mind receiving an extra stream or two).
