I discovered that it was possible to assign several APN profiles to a single LTE interface.
Although it seems to work, I realized that the behavior of my LTE interface is becoming a bit random: high latency, low reception power, increased synchronization delays, “connect failed” error message.
I’m looking to get a way to have a standard configuration that allows me to mass configure LTE routers so that any SIM I use can work on theses routers.
Do you have any feedback to submit to me on this subject or any suggestions regarding configuration?
Interesting idea. So you have two APNs assigned, but a working SIM for only one of them?
I’m just not sure it’s a good idea. In general, modems expects all APNs provided work. If one fails, the modem is going keep trying forever until it works… so it keep searching and that very well might interfere with the “working” APN, since there still only one radio inside.
The “Use Network APN” is only option that will attempt detection of the APN. This option overrides any APN selection, and uses what the carrier provides. So if you SIM cards work, then should just need one APN. Problem is whether “Use Network APN” works, depends on if the carrier send the information - and not all do.
If it doesn’t, you need to change the APN profile in config, when you change the SIM card. Or, perhaps write a schedule script that run periodically that looks at the SIM’s ICCID to know what APN to set on the interface.
Hello, I have a similar problem, what I did in one of the models I use “SXT Lite R11e-LTE-US” is to leave the APN empty and automatically take the APN supplied by the ISP. However I still have problems with the models “R11e-LTE6” and “R11e-LTE” because for some reason they do not automatically take the APN supplied by my ISP here in Colombia, finding out a little of the subject everything points to a compatibility of communication bands.
