Morning all.
I have an RB1100 and a RB951G-2HnD (just got that yesterday) and i am trying to hook up the network for inside the house.
I have the RB1100 connected to 2 cable modems, and soon it will get a Fiber connection also. its doing all its normal activities, like load balancing, firewalls, etc.
at the moment, i have the RB951 setup as an AP. it gets an IP from the internal DHCP in the house, though one of the ports on the RB1100, and then sets up a new network just for wireless…
I would like to have wireless networks, all separated, if possible… and if i am reading correctly, it could be possible using VirtualAP, but i have no idea where to start…
The theory goes as follows:
WLAN1 → Internal Network → has access to all servers (192.168.0.x network) and can connect to internet.
WLAN2 → Internet Only → has no access to internal network (only the 192.168.88.x network) and can connect to internet via a particular router (VPN Route)
WLAN3 → Guest, internet only, limited speed (possibly a hotspot setup here).
there may be room for a 4th WLAN, which would also have a dedicated network connection for it, which would be a “untrusted” network… machine with potential virus, just giving it access to update sites, blocking everything but http and https, and moving all though proxy…
Anyway, just getting the basics here… how would i go about doing any of this? Is it possible?
Thanks.
