Please don’t take this wrong but, if that is over your client’s budget, I would move on and find another client. The RB816 is really very cheap for 16 ports. You could always look for a used RB600 to reduce the cost.
I doubt that you will find anything close in price and you will have to buy a license for anything that is not a RouterBoard.
Unfortunately we sit near the bottom of the world, where we have a choice between three “official” distributors.
One’s prices are good, but some clients have experienced reliability issues with the equipment he sells.
The other two are out to maximise their profits and charge accordingly.
These profits, along with shipping costs from the manufacturers, customs duties, value added tax and shipping inside the country result in a locally sourced RB600 costing three times what you’d expect to pay in the USA.
Then look at matters from this specific client’s perspective. The client in question is involved in an industry that is under threat of nationalisation by the government. They could arrive at work tomorrow and discover that 51% of their company’s been taken by the state.
