Hi, I want to buy my first Mikrotik router for my house. I was thinking about Mikrotik hAP ax S but I heard some bad opinion about It. Is It worth to wait more and get more money(I don't have much money because I'm still a teen) for pay more for Mikrotik hAP ax3 ? My home has 350Mbps bandwidth but I want to increase It to 650Mbps. What do you think y'all?
Hi, I would recommend you wait til hap be3 media is available for sale.
Or if you don't need containers, usb, poe, you should choose hap be lite.
Both devices will be relevant next 5-7 year, or maybe even more.
Vote for hap be3 media if you dont mind with the price tag.
Get a hAP Ax2.
It Is available now, It costs only a little more than a hAP Ax S, and less than an Ax3.
(and a fraction of the future cost of hAP be, when It will be available).
The hAP Ax2 can deal no problem with 350 and 650 (It might become a little "tight" for 1000).
The hAP Ax2 and Ax3 are tested and reliable.
The hAP Ax S Is still not entirely reliable.
Nothing can be said about the be and be lite, they might be perfect, or they may have initial issues.
The hAP be3 media is the most expensive option. I've seen a listing for the hAP be lite at around €65. I'd say that's a really good deal, provided the hardware and software perform well. MediaTek isn't exactly RouterOS's strongest wifi right now, but improvements will come with time.
I think the wifi 7 is overkill for my setup and hap be lite doesn't have too many ethernet ports and I would need a switch. Also hAP be3 is a little pricy.
I was thinking about ax 2 but I don't like that It doesn't have an usb port. Maybe I don't need the usb but I would like to have an one for the future.

It's pricy and I don't even have one device supporting wifi 7 It seems like an overkill for me.
the hap ax s you considered has 5 ports. the hap be lite has 4 ports. accepted. but seems like you should write you're requirements so you get better recommendations.
As a hAP ax² user, I can confidently recommend it. It is incredibly stable, and its performance is excellent. The size is compact, and the design looks professional.
In my opinion, the hAP be3 has a more generic appearance that will probably appeal to typical home users. It actually reminds me a bit of Netgear devices.
For me, the RB5009 represents the true, distinctive MikroTik design language. Among indoor wireless routers, the hAP ax² is the closest to that design.
That said, if your budget allows it, the hAP be3 is the newer product and will most likely deliver excellent performance as well.
I'll second the ax2 recommendation. It's stable and mature. You really can't go wrong with it.
I wouldn't really consider the usb port very significant. And the hAP ax S still has teething problems, some of them because of the move away from Qualcomm to MediaTek...

I had the hap ax S when it was new. Very instable wifi, even when using it only as an access point. There seem to be some improvements with newer firmware, but the forum is still full of posts with issues.
I got the hap ax2 instead, which is 100% reliable and without any issues for me.
It's not a huge problem I can just buy some switch
I will probably choose hap ax2 because I can't find a better choice for this price tag but I don't like that It doesn't have any usb port

Get yourself the hEX S (2025) https://mikrotik.com/product/hex_s_2025 and then for wireless buy a TP-Link EAP225 and in the long term you will be much better off ... IMO ...

... at which point you could get an AC2 (if you can deal with the "tight" 16 Mb storage), these are quite easy to find used for 50 bucks or less.
The MikroTik hEX S has a secure default configuration out of the box, but it requires you to set a strong administrator password .. The default config is an excellent starting point to the learning curve
The OP stated that his Internet bandwidth is 300Mbps ... For the Hex S Refresh this will be a breeze with lots of headroom ... Insofar as all the other issues Mikrotik is known to be constantly improving the software/firmware so most of those issues will be solved in time ...
