Well, I belong from a very less urbanized part of India and I am bound to get a very pathetic broadband provider. The best I could find up was one promising me 512kbps. While it is not exactly what would one expect. Its just 10MBps line which he shares among 56-60 users to run his small business while vaguely expecting all the users not being at the same time. The speed while is decent in night but falls below to the point that “nethogs” shows that its just 4KBPS in all.
ISP is totally clueless dumb who advises me its because of viruses. The provider uses routerOS. Its clear that even if the whole bandwidth is being used at the same time I must get at least 20-25KBps which is not clearly the case. The fact that I am a very aggressive downloader, I suspect that I am kind of de-prioritized by the system or something similar. I tried to read to some docs, and though I didn’t find anything to support my claim, I cound’nt think there is any other explanation.
What could be other explanation? Or my ISP is just a cheater, of sorts?
