N-Connector holes in outdoor box

I have a bunch of RB 230 and RB 532 outdoor boxes in which I need to add some more N-type pigtails.

Since the N-connector of the pigtail is keyed, I cannot simply drill a hole the size of the antenna connector. How do I go about it? Can I use some kind of punch tool to ‘punch’ a hole through the plastic? Where would I source this?

You can just drill a hole. Just tighten on both sides. Greenlee makes keyed punches to make the nice holes.

Thanks, that seems to be ideal. Any idea who would be able to sell one to me? Need an online shop.. :frowning:

Also, I’ve never used these tools and can’t understand how it would work. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it, but I want to make sure I buy all the correct bits and pieces. Care to explain a little or point me to some kind of tutorial?

Thanks again.

Well… http://www.greenlee.com/ is one company. They have PDFs.

Lots of online sales:

There are some cheaper sets out that would work fine for plastic.

I use a stepper bit. Most hardware stores have them. But I think the punch would be really nice.

Those look nice. What is the normal guage/diameter for a N-connector knockout?

Eric

1/2" or 7/16" depending on how tight you like the rubber sealed.

You can just get one of those ‘stepper’ bits and drill up to each level and try to poke the pigtail through, that works too!
