N00B ALERT - What is "right way" to configure this?

Hopefully someone will be kind enough to walk me through this, since I have very little idea what I’m doing. Here’s some ASCII art of my network topology:

WIFI Devices ----| Hap AC Lite —
| Hap AC Lite ---- Hex POE ---- Cable Modem
LAN Devices ----| Hap AC Lite —/

I’ve got it working well enough that I can get to the internet, but I’m 95% sure I didn’t configure things right (since I don’t know what most of the acronyms mean…) Right now I’ve got all the Hap’s in “CPE Mode” and told them that they’re “bridges” not “routers” and to get their IP addresses from the ethernet. Is that right? I don’t think I have the 5K band working at all.

The way I want it to work, is to make each of the Hap AC Lite devices work as CAPs, and also as LAN switches, and make the Hex POE the CAPsMAN, with 5K and 2.4K WIFI bands both working. What are the correct settings for doing this? Simple, please…

It’s probably better to draw a picture and scan it or take a picture and post it here. The ascii you drew isn’t working I think.

Quick Set mode was not always known to be reliable in setting some device into a mode. I’m not sure if this is still the case.

Based on the questions you’re asking, you really should spend more time with the devices and learn them before asking for help with capsman, it’s not that simple for the layperson to set up (yet?) as far as I can tell.

In my experience, playing with MikroTIk devices, reading the wiki and user docs, and this forum is generally not time wasted. Becoming proficient is better than having someone lay it out for you, and then forgetting about it until it breaks…

Or you could ask one of the many consultants that would be happy to help.
