i have installed mikrotik for our office, our lan has a 192.168.2.0/24 network, we have bridged the lan and wireless so that lan and Wlan get a dhcp 192.168.2.? address.
the problem though is, Wlan clients cant search from their machines a machine on the lan by name i.e. Server but if you search by IP you get that first time.
we did not have the lan and Wlan bridged before, it did the same, we hoped that if we bridged it that would fix our problem but didnt.
If they are windows machines they’ll have to be in the same ‘domain’ or workgroup. Pretty much the same for Linux, MAC - I am sure has some kind of setting for that…
Two - they would all have to have the same gateway - and the interfaces should not have an IP address on them except for the bridge itself and, if you have a public interface (Internet), that would have to have an IP too.
I have a client with a very similar problem. Names resolve from wireless to wireless and from lan to lan. The ports are bridged. The masquerade port is no the bridge but netbios names and browsing do not resolve over the bridge.
