We have now had 4 RB433UAH and 1 RB411A boards suffer the exact same problem. After running for a short time, the boards power up, get to the bootloader and then stop with corrupt system image. They they go into reboot mode and just keep cycling. We can get in through serial and reflash them using NetInstall which fixes the problem. We have not tested yet for reoccurance.
The routers all have ROS 5.14 installed with bootloader updated.
They are powered by Ubiquiti 24V PoE. We tested these supplies to see if there was an inrush problem. The peak voltage was never above 24V and usually 23.5V, even with 240VAC input. Since the problems happen in both USA, Europe and ME, we don’t think that it is an input voltage problem.
For the RB433, one was in Europe, one in the Middle East and two in USA. The RB411A was in USA.
All failures were in the last month.
For the RB433 One had an Ubiquiti XR3 module in it, two had R52Hn modules and one had a Ubiquiti SR71A. For the RB411 it used an RB52Hn
The serial numbers of the RB433UAH are not in sequence and obviously the RB411A did not come from the same lot, we we don’t think this is a build problem with MT.
Has anyone else been seeing this type of a problem? Any ideas of what might be going on? Other areas to look at?
We are concerned that there might be an issue with the file system under 5.14 or that there might be some type of write event that causes the corruption.
