Need a comparative Edge Pro vs CCR 1009

I need a comparative between the Ubiquitiy Edge Router Pro vs Mikrotik CCR1009.

Maybe people who have used both could chime in on GOOD reasons to use Mikrotik. (I only tried out the ERL when it first came out, and went right back to Mikrotik)

The price is pretty much a wash.

After taking a look it seems like ubnt and routerOS seem to be very similar in features. It seems more between choosing a dual core 1 Ghz MIPS 64 bit (with hardware NAT) with 4GB flash and 2GB ram vs 1.2 Ghz 9 core 64 bit TILE with 2 GB ram and 1GB flash. EdgeOS may be more stable than routerOS with better monitoring and interface but so far i havent encountered any unstability on my CCR yet. There might be more features on the hardware side but it depends on what you need. The CCR ram can be upgraded but i am not sure about the edgerouter.

it seems like the competition has caught up with mikrotik since ubnt already has networked sensors and a nicer interface with many similar features but i cannot see a scripts feature in EdgeOS. It really depends on what you want to use it for and which ones fit your needs better.

I did consider getting an Edgerouter in the past but mikrotik had metarouter, scripts and L7. I think the processor used by the EdgeRouter series may be an old model so it may not be up to the task of complexity but the TILE is also not very good at complexity but does well when given a lot of things at the same time. Also there is a CCR1009 with SFP+. I use a CCR1036-8G-2S+ and am a bit happy with it since i am able to use it for bypassing networked restrictions which cant be done with EdgeOS. I am also disappointed at TILE’s math performance but it is still better than MIPS.

update: the CCR you were comparing has 1GB of ram. RouterOS has more features and control over EdgeOS. I couldnt find any reputable non youtube reviews on CCR so it seems that mikrotik hasnt hit as many yet. Based on smallnetbuilder.com review i would go with the CCR since the EdgeRouter is far from its theoratical performance even with hardware acceleration.
