Need advice on what to buy

I want to build a simple home router/dual band AP box, and I’m not sure what I need to buy. My desired specs are gigabit ports (at least 3 of them) so I can have a server attached along with the WAN interface and a cabled LAN segment, and concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz a/b/g/n wireless at 300Mbps. I would also like the ability to do QoS on a 20Mbps internet connection. Any suggestions?

I would use a 493G with two R52Hn cards. You will also need 4 mmcx pigtails and antennas for each band. I would try to go with the SMA style connector because if I remember correctly most 493 cases do not have 4 SMA holes and you will have to drill 1 or 2 extra. Maybe this has changed since the last ones we have received. I am pretty sure the drill bit is either 3/8 for the SMA.

No after-market enclosures for the 493G that have 4x SMA holes?

Unfortunately not, at least that I have found. Most only have 2. You could get the one baltic sells it has 2 sma holes and 2 flying lead antenna holes. You would just have 2 different types of antennas.

Shame they don’t appear to have a EU store, I’m based in the UK

You will be okay to drill them out. It is not hard and you can’t even tell it wasn’t made that way. The process might take 5 minutes.
