Need an advice for setting up a network with 50-75 clients.

Hi,

I have some open space (trade center), about 60 m x 100 m and I want to connect all traders (approx. 50-60 clients) via wifi and give them up to 2-5 mpbs of download. My experience with standard 11b and 11g networks tells me that it’s impossible. Otherwise I heard that with nstreme or tdma it is possible. Want to ask you an advice what will be better in my case - to buy a Zyxel DSLAM or try to realize this project with radio? If it is possible with routerboards, please advice me and AP (how many APs will I need?) and CPEs?

Thanks.

So is there a good way to connect 50-60 clients, each can occupy up to 2-3 mpbs, not same time of course, common bandwidth not more than 30 mbps, with Mikrotik radios? Or it’s an utopical scenario and I’ll need just to make a wired network?

Buy 3 APs, broadcast the same SSID on all three but use channels 1, 6, and 11 respectively on one AP each. Bridge them all to the same router.

20 clients per AP is normal? I think to use 5ghz radios and also give CPEs to clients for free rent

Why would you use CPEs in a 60x100m room? Do you mean one CPE per booth/tenant and then they run everything wired from there? Distributing wireless from the CPE is going to wreak havoc on your APs. I’d just have everything associate wireless with your APs. No need for CPEs.

But yes, 20 clients on an AP are no problem. Above 45 is where it gets tricky.

CPE per client. It’s a trade center, client will connect to CPE - PC, card’s terminal and voip telephone

Generally speaking that will work.

VoIP via wireless can be very tricky.

So long as your QOS rules arae solid and you dont have issues with interferance this should work fine.
