First time got the LHG-5axD and have a trouble to connect 2 buildings with 700m long link. I've configured 20Mhz channel with auto frequency and see -92 signal level. I have no physical access to the devices unfortunately but I was checked the before that the direct visibility without any obstructions such as houses or trees is available. Frequency changing does not change the signal level a lot, every time between -92...-88. What I could try to get the better signal? Is there a way to use the frequencies other than 5500-5720? I have no country set.
The question didn't seem to come from someone who's been using ROS for 20 years,

What basics you talking about? I asked about the signal level, which seems strangely low, and about the frequency range that was available in previous versions.
Just ignore replies by rextended, he believes that for every question he always needs lots of information and posts the same reply to everything.
To the point: signal of -92dBm is too weak for a reliable connection, and when you get that over 700m it means (when there is no obstruction between the endpoints or the dishes are not pointed correctly), maybe the transmit power is very low.
What is the gain set to (in advanced mode for the wireless interface)?
What is the TxPower set to?
Even with the TX power set to -4dBm he should have a higher signal level than -92dBm. He's trying to beam through a building or a bunch of trees, there's no way these have line of sight.
For that distance, according to my knowledge, you are aiming incorrectly. You should be able to see your client antenna at that distance unless you encounter obstructions such as trees or buildings and you are not realizing it. Another possibility could be that you do not have enough height for both links... If anyone here on the forum is already testing that model of equipment, could you comment on how good they are? They do not yet arrive in my country or my wholesaler has problems supplying them, but I am anxious to be able to get my hands on a couple for a PTP that I want to do with them.
I think that as well, and I had already started to type it in a reply, but then I read his post again and he says it is unobstructed.
Of course it has to be unobstructed across the fresnel zone, so it would still be trouble when the path is line-of-sight but peeks through a small hole between buildings or trees. There should be a clearance of like 6m at the halfway point to have full signal.
However that does not explain why it is so weak (-92).
The visibility is 100% clear, one guy was on both sites, moved the antenna and we got signal at -69. I was thinking that on 700m with 27dbi antenna I should see -55 ... -60...
Other question is the frequency, in the older devices / ROS version I was able to set the frequency manually, this one gives me only 5500-5720. Is there a way to choose anything else?
Ok so the antennas were badly pointed? -69 should be a signal that provides a working link.
The frequencies you can select depend on the selected country, when the table is correct it lists the frequencies that you can legally use.
(when it is a USA model the country cannot be changed, but on other models it can)
At 6dB... I'd expect at least -55 at 700 meters @ 5500 with an antenna that gains ~24dB....
First of all, I'd center the antennas well, which apparently has never been done before opening this topic.
I have 2 SXT ax and i have signal about -80 on 1,2 km. Full visibility ... I set Superchannel as country and nothing changed.
On SXT without ax i have signal about -60.
That's a long distance for that type of antenna, especially considering its power is only 16 dBi, if I'm not mistaken. The furthest we've been able to use that type of antenna is less than 1 km, whether point-to-point or multipoint. Remember that this antenna model has a wider beamwidth than an LGH5.
