I am finally adding redundant backbone links to my distribution sites using RB750s. I need to enable Spanning tree to be used as switchover to the backup link when the primary one fails. I have already created a bridge and added Ethernet ports 1-5. Port 1 is the primary and Port 2 is the secondary. I have enabled STP on bridge1. The only question I have is setting up Port 1 as the primary and Port 2 as the secondary. I changed the priority to 20 on Port 1 and left the secondary as 80 hex. Is this the correct way to set up Spanning tree? Also can I use RSTP instead of STP and which parameters do I need to change to get the primary and secondary paths to fail over?
