Need help with 802.11N point-to-point link [solved]

Hello all MT users,

I’m an employee of one of the distributors in germany. We got big problems with setting up a point-to-point configuration with the 802.11N-settings and the RouterOS 4.3. We tried every type of configuration but it didn’t work as desired.

Our setup:

AP
RB433AH
RouterOS 4.3
R52N
Mars 25 dbi dual-polarisation antenna ( http://www.mars-antennas.com/item/g_antennas_type_1-156.html )

Client
RB433AH
RouterOS 4.3
R52N
Mars 25 dbi dual-polarisation antenna ( http://www.mars-antennas.com/item/g_antennas_type_1-156.html )

The distance which we want to bypass is 1 kilometer without any trees or other outside influences.

Our HT-settings on the AP:

Our HT-settings on the Client are exactly the same. Or do we have to change some settings?

We’d read the setup_guide in the wiki for RouterOS v4.03beta, but we think it must be possible to set-up the link with v4.3, too.

Do you know, whats the failure in our settings?

Thanks and regards,

Michael

Don’t use WDS with 802.11n. Use vpls tunnel and all thing go very well.

Thank you for your reply.

We will try it and post our results.

Regards,
Michael

You have only -25dB Cross Polarization, I think it’s not enough. Use two separate antenna in different polarization. Else try different frequency.

OK thanks for your information. We will try it.

But we got one question…are our HT-settings correct?

Regards,
Michael

Hello all who read this topic,

now we delete the wds-interface. We added a VPLS interface and it works.

Here is a link of the MikroTik wiki how to set-up a VPLS interface for a transparently bridge with two networks:

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks_using_MPLS

Thanks and good luck,
Michael

Hi Sp4eTzLe

I have point to point with MPLS and is working just fine and I can push on that link up and down 70 to 80 Mbit.
if you want it just give it to me the email and i will send it my config.
I use two panels in each side/ PC base /version ROS4.1/ distance 800 Meters .

thx
Selim

Hi, I m interested to point to point with MPLS configuration.
Can you send me a mail adding @inwind.it at my nick  ?

i want try point to point with MPLS
can you give me aconfiguration it .
send me a mail to po.putraluragung@gmail.com

Hi all,

thanks for your replys but I’m a bit irritated with it.

We solved our problem with adding a MPLS/VPLS-interface and removing the WDS-interface.

Now our point-to-point-link works very fine with the 802.11N configuration. Now we got an usable bandwidth with 200Mbit on RX-site and 150 Mbit on TX-site / distance 1000 meters. We use two dual-polarization antennas with 25dbi.

Four days ago I posted a reply with the link to the Wiki-howto with the solution.

Do you really want a configuration-file? Or only a reply with the code for the MPLS/VPLS-settings?

I’m waiting for your reply

Michael

p.s.: In the next few days i will add a german HowTo on our MikroTik-homepage (www.mikrotik-training-center.de)

A replay if your working code are different from wiki code

It is the same set-up as described in the Wiki, but we changed the IP-addresses

Michael
