Hi all, i need some help with 802.11n Mimo theory!
Does HT MCS rates affects directly the number of chains im using?
for example, if i use MCS 11 in 40Mhz and above i get a 150mbps/150mbps link. in this scenario with chain0 and chain1 checked, i’m really using both chains? o because i use that MCS rate i’m using only one?
to resume the question is, does HT MCS rate determines the number of chains im using no mather if i have both checked to use?
Hmm MIMO determinates the Maximum HT-MCS index that you can use, for this case the chain represent the config of mimo 1x1, 1x2 ,2x1 , 2x2 if you have a 2x2 chain configuration your link can use a MCS 15, if you only have a 1x1 chain config , you can use only a mcs 7 as a maximum MCS.
Note: MCS = Modulation and Coding Scheme, both schemes 7 and 15 are 64 QAM with a 5/6 Coding rate, the diference is MCS-7 have only 1 spatial stream an MCS-15 2 spatial streams.
