Need some help with using switch and ports on RB450G

Hi there,

I need some help with an adjustment to my setup. Basically my ISP gives me 5 public IP addresses to use. At the moment my ISP line is connecting directly into ethernet 1 of the RB450G, with all kinds of rules setup in place.

But I now need to take advantage of the switch options on the RB450G.

So there is what I’m trying to do:

ISP > Switch (RB450G) ethernet 3 > ethernet 1=same as before & ethernet 5=new public ip
So I’m trying to create a switch on the RB450G for the ethernet ports 1&5, by using ethernet 3 and the ISP trunk. Now if I use a standard switch on my current setup, it works fine. But I’d like to use the inbuilt function.

If you are using a switch now, why not just assign all public ips to ether1? You will probably need to modify the rule in “/ip firewall nat” to action=src-nat instead of action=masquerade.

Thanks for your reply, for my ISP, the look at the MAC address for each IP request. In order to get a static IP you have to have unique MAc address.

So for that reason, I must using a switch and then allow the individual ports to use their mac addresses. I mean any bog standard switch can be used - simple connect ISP ethernet cable to say port 1, and then each server to another one of the ports on the switch and its done.

Thats what I’m trying to replicate on RoS
