[Need Suggestion/Help]PPTP Problem on RB750

Hello, I am newbie here, I just started to use RouterOS and RouterBoard recently (± 3 months ago)

I have some problem upon installing the tunneling service via PPTP.

Local Network : 192.168.8.0/24 (On router interface : 192.168.8.1)
Public IP : 1xx.1xx.1xx.1xx

I have setup the basic preparation on my RB750 such as PPP secrets and enabling PPTP Server (CHAP, PAP, MS CHAP all enabled) and setup the local address to be 192.168.8.5 and remote address to be 192.168.8.6

When I try to connect via VPN (under Win XP), I managed to connect successfully to the router. I try to ping the router gateway IP, and it replied. But when I tried to ping the network behind it (192.168.8.2), it failed.

What’s the problem here? At first I suspected that I need to add static routing on router, but I remembered well that previously I used RB450 with same setting (no static routing) and I managed to connect successfully.

Oh, and the local network on 192.168.8.0/24 is working well, I even tried to add other network on the router (192.168.4.0/24) and I still managed to connect to other network successfully.

Did I miss something here?

SOLVED :

Apparently I forgot to set the ARP of the local network, it needs to be set to proxy-arp since VPN client can’t get ARP from workstation (mentioned at http://www.mikrotik.com/documentation/manual_2.7/Interface/PPTP.html)

2nd of all, I often get error 619 upon connecting from my client.
Some searching on the net, suggestion to allow gre and 1723 on firewall popped up.
But it doesn’t solve my problem.

It appears that since I can connect to 192.168.8.0/24 network locally, I can’t dial my vpn :laughing:

so both problem are already solved now.
