Need to install OpenWRT on a 433AH, can later restore ROS ?

Hi.

For a particular project, We need to run OpenWRT on a 433AH, AND access the SD card from it.
But I don´t want to lose the possibility of later restoring RoS.
(We use OpenWRT because need to run some housemade programs on the board, mktk scripting isn`t enough for those)

1- The ideal thing would be beeing able to boot OpenWRT from the SD, but the person doing it says RB can´t boot from SD.

2- The second thing we tried was to use Ros 4 virtualization and boot OpenWRT. The problem is that apparently the guest can´t see the SD as storage.

3- So, we are evaluating to flash OpenWRT on the Nand storage. The questions are:
a) Would we be able to use the SD from OpenWRT ?
b) If we determine RB433AH isn´t suitable for this project, can we restore RoS to use it as a “normal” RB ?

Thanks in advance

Javier

yes, you should be able to restore RouterOS just fine. We will check why SD card didn’t work.

How do I restore ROS ? From the BIOS prompt, via serial ?

with Netinstall http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Netinstall

Hello,

I was format the NAND flash and I can’t restore the RouterOS on my RB450G with Netinstall.
When I start the Netinstall, it can boot the router, and the router is wait for the installation server, but nothing else.
I select the proper package and sometimes I select the previously saved license file but nothing.

Netinstall4.1 indicate “Sending offer…” for 5-10 second but the router don’t see the installation server.

I was try on all port with 3 UTP cable, 2 PC, 3 versions of Windows but nothing happens after the router booted up the kernel provided by netinstall.

I was try some of the Netinstall versions from 3.26 to 3.30 and from 4.00 to 4.01 too.

Any idea?
