I have a RB133c that I set up awhile back and didnt use it. I just got it out hooked up the serial interface and now I cant remember what the password is. I have flashed to 2.8 the board and the OS version is 2.9.34 I have tried pressing s1 and holding it until the unit reboots but still no change. Is there a way that I can reset the OS password back to default. I dont mind losing the configuration.
Netinstall.
On RB 133
Short the s1 jumper. Power cycle the radio. On boot it will reset the software to the install and reboot again on its own. When it comes back up, move the jumper back and login with no password.
This is a factory reset so it will reset all config.
naaa it doesnt work on 133c ; tried many times ! only way to reset device is via serial or as its said via net install !
Actually you must shorten jp3 jumper not s1. If jp3 isn’t resetting configuration, then make sure router has latest Firmware version.
Bingo !
That did it. Thanks for the info.
hi mates
i have a 433AH with 2 mini pci XR5 in an outdoor box that i installed it on top of a tower.
it’s under load and works for an ISP.
- i cannot open the outdoor box of the routerboard.
- i cannot power off it.
- i cannot access it with winbox because i forgot the password
i have to change the frequency for better throughput.
it’s force and most important for my company.
so…what should i do ??
is there any software for password recovery ??
(i can connect to routerboard localy with laptop and cat5 cable with RJ45)
Again, the ONLY way to reset a lost password is to reset the configuration or reinstall. Keep your passwords written down somewhere safe!
