Negative karma for u.fl

I want to give negative karma to the person who designed the u.fl connector, and negative karma to the person at RouterBoard who decided to use them on these radios. :frowning:

It is bad enough the first time they are connected, but after that, it is easier to replace the radio and pigtail as a unit.

A hot-melt gun is your friend there

We now do this with every card.

I appreciate the advice. I already use a hot glue gun to keep the connectors in place. Staying in place was not the challenge.

The challenge is: Yesterday, I had a brand new RB433 fail within an hour of starting it in a new installation. Things like that happen. I had to remove the brand new radios from the enclosure to set up another new RB433 with them, so I disconnected the u.fl connectors (BAD MOVE!). Now I must reconnect them. It is 15 feet off the ground. It was raining on and off all day, and will be again today. It has three radios, all with u.fl connectors. After two hours, it still isn’t complete. I will remove the enclosure today and do the repair here in my shop. A ten minute project turned into a two day hassle.

I did not use the #@%* language here that I was using on the ladder!

ADD: I did this with SR2 radios a couple years ago. They had MMCX connectors. Ten minutes and I was done and out of there!

Is there a reason that RouterBoard put two of these cursed little connectors on the R52 and R52H instead of two different types of connectors?

ADD2: To be fair, I have no other problems with the R52 and R52H. The 20 (edit: I can’t add. Missed a carry. The count is 30) I have all perform well, even in conditions that other radios did poorly. Just the connectors!
