I have a new RB951G-2HnD that I updated to 6.35.4 and installed wireless-rep.
I want to configure it the same as another one so I took the .rsc file, edited it a bit to change the name and IP
address, then did a reset without defaults and with this .rsc file (that I uploaded).
It did not come back. WiFi is now down, was up. Apparently a problem with the .rsc file.
So I downloaded the full package and netinstall (update was directly from the device) and try a netinstall
with the full package and with “apply default config”, but it does not work according to documentation.
When I have selected the package and click Install, after a few seconds (with some network activity) the router
listed in the top left area changes back to Ready without any message that the install is complete and the
Install button, that is supposed to change to Reboot, remains a greyed-out Install. When I select the router
again in the list it changes back to Install and I can re-run it with the same result.
What can be wrong and how do I fix this?
I re-downloaded the routeros npk file and now it works OK.
(I guessed it was maybe corrupt because I need to transfer it over many steps including a USB stick that I cannot “safely unmount”)
However, it would have been helpful when netinstall issued an appropriate errormessage instead of just doing nothing…
