Netinstall help

Hi,

I would like to get rid of the original password from MT. Im going to netinstall my AX3 but I have few questions:

  1. If I flaash only package needed, what will be the default password? Will be there any config?
  2. If I cross keep old config - will be the original password from MT deleted?
  3. If I cross aply default config? will be the original password from MT deleted?

Thank you

You can replace the default password to whatever you want. If you reset the device with Netinstall, the original password is restored, as it should be for obvious reasons. BTW, MikroTik was required to do this. If you don’t like it, purchase an older device.

A simple search would have given you that answer…

Hi,

could please anyone answer questions above?

My experience is that netinsall resets the router back to default configuration. This means that at first entry you will prompted to enter in a new password.

yes, but default configuration has already password from MT.

why do people respond without knowing what they write?

  1. If I flaash only package needed, what will be the default password? Will be there any config?
The password and the installed packages are not linked to each other.
It all depends on the other options, not the packages you choose.
  1. If I cross keep old config - will be the original password from MT deleted?
The default password written in the “BIOS” of the device is not changed by anything.
If it says “keep old config” it means “keep old config”. The question makes no sense.
  1. If I cross aply default config? will be the original password from MT deleted?
Here too it doesn’t make sense, if you put “default config” and in the default there is the password… what you ask doesn’t make sense.
Again: The default password written in the “BIOS” of the device is not changed by anything.

The “only” (***) way to remove the default password (leaving it blank on new config, but not delete the original password from the “BIOS”)
is netinstall the device with unselect “keep old config” and unselect “default config”.

Why can’t you search for them ? I honestly stopped reading after “get rid of password” and fail to see this as a major issue when you have one device. The workarounds were posted here already if you search for them, and the final answer is you can’t unless you wipe the drive. Rextended is too generous…

Moba you have 150 useless comments so please be quite.

Rextended thank you.

If I do netinstall the device with unselect “keep old config” and unselect “default config”. What will be the login? admin and no password? There will not be any configuration just blank HW?

Thank you

In Netinstall unselect “apply default config” and it will not apply factory config (which includes the password). Your device will not have any other config, but you can quickly apply some predefined settings with Winbox over MAC address and then selecing some QuickSet mode (or pasting your own config).

Helping ourselves before insisting for help from others goes a very long way in getting what we need in life. No one here has to provide you anything. The question isn’t the issue…

As for my useless posts, they never ask for help here from anyone or have an impatient, entitled tone while asking for it. Your behaviour is incompatible with mine and I have better thing to do than participate in childish banter, so I’ll refrain from replying to your posts from now on - whatever “quite” means…

Have a great day !

Thank you for explanation
