netinstall not working to USB CF card

I was the author over 10 years ago on this thread http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/routeros-on-watchguard-xseries-h-w/34998/1

The problem today is as follows:
using 6.48.6 I downloaded everything from the website.
using the 32 or 64 bit netinstall it fails everytime with Cannot open physical drive.
I’ve tried 1gb, 256mb and 4gb CF cards, the latter thats in the reader now.

I’ve always had problems with Netinstall and drives. True I haven’t done this since the last time a decade or so ago but I have a need to build up another
watchguard with routeros so I can get 1gb ports. (I have a bunch of old X700, x750e, and an XTM520 here from my previous employer who switched to Fortinet and we got to keep a bunch of the old stuff years ago.
I’ve also attached a screenshot of what the CF properties are.

So can someone please shed some light on how I can load the code onto the CF card? I checked the online manual and it doesnt seem to talk about doing that anymore.

open to suggestions.

I removed the CF multireader and inserted a USB stick and it seems to be installing. So why can windows see and access the CF card yet Netinstall fails?

ok you have to run netinstall as administrator :frowning: but it failed Cannot copy system files
