It has version 7 on it. I did download the version 6 netinstall, but I get nothing on it. It just waits forever and never shows any message. I’m guessing it’s not responding in a similar fashion as the version 7 netinstall but does not have the error handling the newer version does.
From what I can find Flashboot was designed to work with Flashfig maybe? I see an flashfig.exe on the site, but I don’t have a pc to run it with and have no experience with it. Maybe I can find a way to get it running on a VM. I guess I need to research it a little more. Maybe it’s possible to just load the latest routeros npk with that?
I was able to get a bit farther. I got into the settings for routerboard and set it to boot ethernet.
Now it netinstall-cli assigns it an address and then I see
Booting device xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx into setup mode
Then nothing happens after that. I’m not sure how long it’s supposed to take, but I’ve let it sit for many minutes and no progress. It does seem to restart after that line because I do hear the beep.
I can get into the router and have downgraded it to the latest 6 version and it seems to run fine with that. Only after upgrading past 7.12.1 does it load the new interface and webfig gets messed up. I’m not sure if it’s fixable or not.
Does anyone have an 1100ahx2 with a working version 7 using the new webfig interface. The problem seems to mainly be the initial login screen.
Also, after loading version 6 back I got to say I miss that interface. It’s cleaner, more efficient, and easier on my aging eyes.
I saw today in the 7.20beta2 release notes that there was a fix in netinstall for PPC devices.
I downloaded the beta netinstall-cli for linux and ran it in a VM on my Mac and everything worked fine. I now have 7.18.2 installed with a fully working webfig login and no other issues that I can see. Thanks to the kind dev that looked into this and fixed it for PPC devices.
