I have spent the last hour struggling to get netinstall rc14 to work and finally solved it.
I have a 133c with an R52 card in that died for some reason so I formatted the flash and tried to install routeros. I could get it to boot and take the netinstall supplied ip but it would hang on the loading kernel bit.
Turns out that when I removed the minipci card all starts to work. SO - BE WARNED. Dont try to netinstall with a card installed!! I looked all over the manuals and I cannot see any mention of this. So I’m either just blind or this URGENTLY needs putting into the documentation.
I had a similar problem today. I upgraded a few RB333s v3.0rc13 to rc14 and now one of them has a dead miniPCI. I’m not sure what’s wrong because most of the RB333s are fine.
A few days ago I also tried to upgrade an RB333 v3.0rc10 to v3.0rc13, before I upgraded the RouterOS its miniPCI was working properly, however once it has been upgraded the miniPCI was also dead. In both case, I use R52H.
The solution is to remove the dead miniPCI from the RouterBoard as mentioned by mstead. Luckily my MikroTik dealer replaces these miniPCIs right away.
I think my R52 is still alive after the upgrade. It certainly appears in the card list still.
andryan - Is your R52 working when you put it back in after the netinstall? By dead do you mean the board won’t boot or does it just not show in the card list?
Just tested RB333 running v3.0rc13 with R52H on upper slot, upgraded to v3.0rc14 and the wireless card is still there working fine.
What wireless coinfiguration you had?
It happened only for those 2 boards, all other board upgraded fine?
Yup, just 2 out of several RB333s we have here. Actually the first case happened after I disabled some system packages prior to upgrading, sorry.
Probably I’m being unlucky and got 2 defective R52Hs in short period of time.
