Netinstall utility- where is it??

upgrading form 2.9.27 to 2.9.40…ftp’d the packages i wanted, x386, to 15 Wrap boards… rebooted. NO update, NO log messages reguarding update or faild update, and the 2.9.40 .npk files are all sitting in the root of the wraps.

I read something about needing to use Netinstall utility to upgrade past 2.9.27…I’ve used netinstall before. i dont have it, and I CANT FIND it on:

http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html

where is it?

EDIT: Dude 3.0b2 shows all the wrap boxes, and shows them as MT route OS, but does NOT show the version and does NOT allow me to select upgrade, and the 2.9.40 packages ARE loaded into the dude files. these WRAP boxes function fine other than this upgrade issue today.

for as easy as the MT upgrade process is..i always seem to spend tons of time struggling it just about everytime i upgrade field units…

tks

I’ve not had to use netinstall on wraps to .38; WinBox drag and drop worked. Make sure you are set to binary transfer! I’ll try a .40 today.

Here is netinstall: http://www.mikrotik.com/download/netinstall-2.9.40.exe

I don’t know where are you looking, but here it is…

http://www.mikrotik.com/download/netinstall-2.9.40.exe

hmm..thats weird i see netinstall.exe now too.

anyway, i still cant update, no log messages either. However i did a while back upgrade one of these 15 Wrap 2e to 2.9.38 from 2.9.27, but no luck repeating that.

is there any archive of router OS releases? if not i may make a free webpage/archive with them if MT does not mind

tks

GOT IT.

apparently you have to choose reboot and not power cycle the unit, as i was doing since it was easier to just turn off 1 poe siwitch than log in to all 15…

either way it updated after choosing reboot then doing a power cycle.

tks

sure you have to reboot, because upgrade process is executed after service shutdown. If you simply unplug power cable nothing will happen.
