NetMetal 5 - 25 Km Link

So, I decided to upgrade my Rocket M5 radios to NetMetal 5 radios, but was wondering what wireless protocol to use for best speeds. Or any other configuration set up to gain the most speeds.

The link is a PtP link in an urban enviroment and is not used for anything other then a bridge between two locations for very large data backups. Simple routes between two subnets only.

Should I use 802.11, Netstreme, NV2? Obviously I will use the new "ac standard " as that is why I bought the radio’s. Since I am new to this ac standard, and the wireless I can pick 20/40/80 Mhz Ceee, I can see I can choose 20/40 Ce What I am wondering is, if I pick the 20/40/80 Ceee, will this always use 80 MHz? I guess my mind reads that as use what width is available… I dunno…

The signal levels with the Rocket m5’s tat I have in place now is -77db. But there is a building in the way, a house actually, and I cannot make my tower any taller. So I am forced to bend light around this house  At times the signal get better to -71, depending what frequency it is on.

P.s. I will try to post pictures of how I mount the NetMetal 5 to a RocketDish 30DB antenna.

You will see a gain of a few dB when you switch to the Netmetal.
If you choose 20/40/80 Ceee channel it will try to stay on 80Mhz.
For the usage you want it - large data backups, you can first try 802.11. It performs good, actually best at the moment when there are not a lot of connections and the ccq is good. If you have problems with it switch to nv2.
