NetMetal 5 PtMP?

I recently bought 4 - NetMetal 5 (RB922UAGS-5HPacD-NM-US). I wanted to set up a PtMP type of system. 1 of these units being the AP and the other 3 would be clients. I first did some tests using the 1 AP and 1 Client. Everything worked awesome. The connection stayed at a steady 400Mbps for Tx and Rx. Then I proceeded to add the other 2 clients and everything went to crap. I couldn’t maintain a stable connection to any of the units. The Tx and Rx speeds were up and down, all over the place, dropped connections.. You name it.

So my question is, can these devices be set up for PtMP and be reliable/stable? If they can, I would like to hear some suggestions. If they can’t be set up for PtMP, then do you offer a product that I can use as an AP that can handle talking to three clients? Please keep in mind that all three clients will be in the same building as the AP and the max distance is about 200 feet. I guess I’m also concerned if the clients have to be “X” distance apart from each other as well.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Of course it can be used as ptmp. I have one with 13 clients (different types of RB’s) and 307 days of uptime. Speeds get to 110mbps. But I’m using nv2 and signals are -40…-70.

I got this working perfectly. All I had to do is put the 3 clients on “nv2 nstreme 802.11” protocol and then the AP on “nv2” and everything is working great. I found a similar post about this and was able to achieve PtMP.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a new hinge for one of my NetMetal 5’s? It broke the first time I tried to close it. So much for a professional installation on my part. :frowning:

Thanks,
Dan

I don’t think these parts are available separately, but maybe your local distributors have some units that were decommissioned. Ask them to see if they can space some for parts.

Thank you for responding.
I bought these 4 units off of Amazon. I guess I could ask the seller and see if I get a response. If anyone else has a unit that is out of commission and can let it go, I’d be interested. Otherwise, my only other option is to buy a new one. :frowning:

Thanks,
Dan

Check the official distributors on https://mikrotik.com/buy
Maybe somebody in your vicinity is willing to sell you a “case only” from a decommissioned unit.
